I feel like I'm in college again and I'm the last person to join this "new Facebook thing..." Y'know- back when FB was only for college students- not high schoolers and old people. (I'm JUST kidding- please don't take offense non-college-aged-facebook-member-readers-of-my-blog!)
Back to my point- every girl I know is reading the Twilight series. Seriously, my mom, my BFF, the PT I work with at the hospital, every southern, sorority, girlified J.Crew clad, pear earrings wearing girl I know is reading these books! And I keep asking, "Really? Vampire love stories?" I have a 14 year old patient with jet black hair down to her waist who has worn the same thing to every appointment- a black Twilight t-shirt with the two angst-y teen vampires on it. SHE fits my Twilight reader profile...
But everyone keeps telling me how great these books are, even if they're embarressed to admit it and are reading them in secret. So what's a girl to do? No, really. What's a girl to do??
I'm not sure I can bring myself to do it, but I don't want to miss out on something truly good or...be the girl who doesn't get Facebook...

Husband says... DON'T DO IT!!!
I'm with ya! What is with this vampire stuff? I don't think the main guy is even that hot - although bazillions of girls totally disagree. Fight the good fight - don't do it! In full disclosure - I don't do fiction - I hated Lord of the Rings and have never read (or watched) any of the Harry Potter books so my opinion might not count. :)
Hope CO is treating you well!

Seriously, I will lose a great deal of respect for you if you get sucked into this nonsense. I actually was forced to watch the first movie, and it was one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. Words cannot express the amount of disdain I have for Twilight. I usually try to be funny when I comment on your blog, but there's just no room for that here. Listen to your husband.
I didn't think I could read them either. It's kind of a commitment because there are four books and they are big. But I really enjoyed them. Yes, it's about vampires and werewolves but I really enjoyed reading the series nonetheless. It's a big fat love story though too. And you know I'm a huge sap. I think you should give it a try. Don't judge the book by the movie either. The movie was terrible!
Don't listen to your husband or your brother....go for it!! I'll bet you'll be hooked by the second chapter! I know the whole vampire idea sounds ridiculous, but it somehow sucks you in....
Regarding Mom's comment...sucks is the operative word. NOT blood. It just...sucks.
I'm right there with you girl! I think I might try to read them soon...but I just can't get really excited about vampires although EVERYONE I talk to says it's the love story that's so great! Let us know if you do read them and like them!
Ok, I myself have never read them (don't really have an interest to so I don't see it ever happening either...). However, my roommate is an avid reader...and I mean AVID. She likes all the love stories and the more unique stories as well. She finally read one of them last year...and HATED it. Resist the peer pressure! But really, I won't judge you even if you do read it afterall...
