I Hate Coming Home After Christmas…

Not just because the holiday is over and you’ve just said goodbye to your family, who you’ve spent weeks looking forward to seeing…

12 26 09_1469

But because your house looks like this...

12 30 09_148212 30 09_1479

12 30 09_1478

No room is safe.12 30 09_1480

12 30 09_1491

And you’ve accumulated an obnoxious amount of empty boxes.

12 31 09_1533

And a ridiculous amount of junk mail…

12 30 09_1488

(Except for this type of mail…my favorite!)

12 07 09_0739 And you know you’ll have to take down your Christmas decorations soon…

And you’re out of excuses for that number on your scale! (No, you don’t get a picture of that.)

SO.  Who wants to come help me clean my house??  And be my personal trainer?  And haul this junk to the dumpster?

Any takers?  No?

Okay, well Happy New Year’s Eve anyway…

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Card 4x8 2009_edited-8

Our Christmas card revealed!

We hope everyone had a great Christmas today.  We’re having a great time amidst the chaos in Georgia.  We keep jumping from one Christmas to the next and have another one tonight (we’re now in Atlanta) and still another tomorrow with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc… I think we’re expecting 23 people.

I hope today finds you warm, dry, and blessed, filled with lots of love from your family and friends.

And so we don’t let the REAL story of Christmas slip by…

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”     Isaiah 9:6-7

Snowpocalypse Part Deux

SO. There are an obscene number of pictures to follow, many thanks to Windows Live Writer. I don’t know if this is a program everyone has and I’m just now finding out about it, but it came with our new computer and has made blogging and uploading pictures significantly easier. J’adore.

Anywho, Saturday was the day of the big dump, but Sunday was all sunshine and fresh, white snow. Officially enter…our snow day. We first drove around the city to check out the damage.

Some roads looked great and everything was beautiful…

12 20 09_0759 12 20 09_0764

And others were not.

12 20 09_0767

My favorite site.

12 20 09_0771

Christmas in Washington.

I love this picture…

An area on Capitol Hill called Eastern Market. Roads. Were. Not. Clear.12 20 09_0783

I then schlepped over to see my favorite kids, the Rileys (these are the frequently mentioned Tucker’s older brother and sister.)

12 20 09_0788

A camera man just happened to find us in the woods having a snowball throwing contest..

12 20 09_0792

I have quite an arm.

12 20 09_0796

“Hit the photographer!!”

12 20 09_0832

And so starts the sledding…

12 20 09_0806

I’m not going to lie, this was all purely for my enjoyment. These kids were pros and I was a first timer.

12 20 09_0807

“I’m not going alone!”

12 20 09_0817

And the ensuing series of pictures is what happens when a 9 year old boy takes the reins.

Sarah and I made a better team.

I’m not sure what he’s doing, but this is pretty typical Ethan… :)

12 20 09_0884

What a threesome.

12 20 09_0895

Objects in the lens may be moving faster than they appear.

12 20 09_0923

And then the snow angels…

12 20 09_0924

Again, the kids were totally humoring me at this point.

12 20 09_0948

Dominate, Sarah.

12 20 09_0952 12 20 09_0954

Ethan thoroughly enjoyed eating the snow…until he got a chunk of mud mixed in.

12 20 09_0956

Me and Sarah.

12 20 09_0957

And THIS is what happens when you try to take a picture with a 9 year old boy…

Failed attempt to push us over.

And that’s it! It’s staying pretty cold here, so the snow’s not going anywhere. The road’s are pretty yucky and everyone’s out trying to make up for the missed shopping time this weekend, so driving around here is not the most fun.

School has been canceled for the remainder of the week (!!), so we’re heading down to Savannah a day early. Sweet Meat G. (That’s for you, Christie.)
